How to make a wall art mockup
The whole thing is five steps and takes about a minute once you have done it once. It works the same way in the browser tool and in the app.
1. Pick a room
Choose an interior photo in the shape you need. Square works for an Instagram post and most Etsy thumbnails, 3:4 for a portrait listing photo, 9:16 for Reels and Stories. Picking the shape first saves you cropping later.
2. Add your artwork
Import the image from your photo library. In the app you can place several pieces on the same wall, which is how you show a diptych or a gallery wall as one product.
3. Set the size
Drag to position, pinch or use the slider to scale. Match the piece to something real in the photo — a sofa is roughly two metres, a door is about two metres tall. Getting scale right is the whole point of a room mockup.
4. Choose a mat and frame
Add a double mat and frame and set the width of each. A wider mat reads as more expensive; a frame colour picked from the artwork looks intentional, and one picked from the room looks like decor.
5. Match the shadow, then save
Set the shadow direction to match the light already in the photo, and keep the intensity low. A shadow falling the wrong way is the single thing that makes a mockup look pasted on. Then save to your photo library, at full resolution and with no watermark.
